Each year, we collaborate with Abbotsleigh to run the ABBOX of Fun Holiday Camp initiative, run in partnership with the Sony Foundation.

ABBOX provides a three-day respite camp for children living with disabilities, in turn giving families time to recharge.
"ABBOX was genuinely such a rewarding experience that completely shifted and enriched my perspective on caring for disabled children,” said Lachlan (Year 12). "I would recommend it to anyone who wants to make a real difference in people’s lives. As volunteers, it was our duty to do our part for the community by maximising the campers' enjoyment and giving their parents valuable time to rest, recognising them as true champions in our society.”
“I felt it's been so lifechanging,” said Ryan (Year 12). “I've had such a good experience helping out here at ABBOX. Along with my team, I feel we were not just creating really good bonds with my camper but also creating that genuine bond with the other carers as well. I feel like we've also grown, friendship-wise. We've been able to see what the parents of the children at ABBOX do on a daily basis, and I think that insight is valuable.”

“The last few days at ABBOX have been quite amazing,” said Adam (Year 12). “To learn how the child I was caring for experiences everything, and learning how to take care of him, was an awesome feeling. At first, it’s quite tough. It’s about having a lot of patience. Eventually, you’ll build this amazing connection with the kids. It’s so fulfilling.”

For many students, ABBOX becomes a transformative experience – one that shapes their character, strengthens their compassion, and stays with them long after they leave school.

“A centenary is far more than a marker of time. It is a testament to vision, courage, perseverance and the enduring power of community. Today we honour the past, celebrate the present, and look forward with both optimism and conviction to the future.” - Mrs Julie Wiseman, Head of Wahroonga Prep School.
