Year 2 Heritage Centre visit at Knox

Knox’s Heritage Centre and Records Manager, Julie Mason, and the team prepared four key components of the tour:

• A time travel display which showed the school throughout the decades, from the 1920s to present day. The students showed curiosity in the objects from different eras, including yoyos and glass milk bottles.
  
• A Q&A with Old Boy Hamish Bayliss (OKG97), Director of Alumni Relations, who shared his student experience of Knox from Year 1 in 1986 (when there were only 25 students in the cohort). Hamish and the students discussed how Knox has evolved since his school days. For instance, in the 1980s, there was only one computer room with large block-shaped machines, which students took turns to use. Now, Prep students each use mobile tablet devices.
  
• A session on faith and spirituality led by Jennie Boulden, Assistant School Chaplain of Knox Preparatory School and Wahroonga Preparatory School.
  
• A tour of the Heritage Centre with Archivist Emily Graham, who showed students how the school bells were once sounded by people physically ringing a metal bell.
