
Knox Grammar School’s Senior School Instrumental Ensembles have delivered exceptional performances across all divisions at the 2025 Sydney Eisteddfod. Returning to a full suite of Eisteddfod performances this year, our Knox Academy of Performing Arts (KAPA) proudly celebrates our best overall results to date, including first place in every Secondary School Premium Section entered.

The Sydney Eisteddfod is one of the largest and most prestigious performing arts festivals in Australia and New Zealand. Each year, our KAPA program showcases the remarkable talents of our Jazz Ensembles, Concert Bands, String Ensembles, Orchestras, Stage Bands, Chamber and Percussion Ensembles, competing against top-tier secondary schools and community groups.
Across 18 performances in the Secondary School Instrumental divisions, our students demonstrated refined musicality, exceptional focus and discipline, unwavering commitment and dedication, boundless enthusiasm and captivating performance flair.

Knox Symphony Orchestra (KSO) – 73 boys (Year 7-12 Students)
1st Place Honours in the Secondary School Premium Youth Orchestra Division – 94 points
Knox Chamber Strings – 38 boys (Year 7-12 Students)
1st Place Honours in the Secondary School Premium String Ensemble Division – 96 points
String Orchestra – 69 boys (Year 7-12 Students)
1st Place Honours in the Secondary School Intermediate String Ensemble Division – 95 points
Knox Symphonic Wind Ensemble – 73 boys (Year 7-12 Students)
1st Place Honours in the Premium Secondary School Concert Band Section - 95 Points
Knox Concert Band – 68 boys (Year 8-11 Students)
1st Place Honours in the Intermediate Secondary School Concert Band Section - 94 Points
Knox Year 7 Wind Band – 86 boys
1st Place Honours in the Novice Secondary School Concert Band Section - 94 points
Knox Big Band – 28 boys (Year 10-12 Students)
1st Place Honours in the Secondary School Premium Stage Band Section with 94 points
Knox Stage Band - 27 boys – (Year 10-11 students)
2nd Place Honours in the Secondary School Intermediate Stage Band Section with 92 points
Knox Year 7 Jazz Ensemble – 27 boys
Highly Commended in the Secondary School Novice Stage Band Section in achieving 90 points
Knox Jazz Combo – 8 boys (Year 10-12 Students)
Highly Commended in the Secondary School Jazz Band Section with 92 points
Knox Senior Percussion Ensemble – 5 boys (Year 9-11 students)
3rd Place Honours in the Under 19 Percussion Ensemble Section with 92 Points
Congratulations also to the following Knox Chamber Ensembles for their performances in this year’s performances in this year’s Chamber Music (18 Years and Under) Section: Knox Clarinet Quartet, Knox Clarinet Orchestra, Knox Saxophone Quartet, Knox Saxophone Ensemble, Knox Saxophone Orchestra, Knox Chamber Winds and the Knox Wind Quintet.

Staff and visiting guests gathered at Knox on 12 August for a Twilight Networking Event. Bringing leaders together for an evening of connection and conversation, attendees later heard from internationally bestselling author, former state champion boxer and business owner Luke Kennedy.

Last Saturday’s final rounds in 2026 Winter Sport season marked the conclusion of another outstanding chapter in Knox Sport.

“Visual Arts deepens our understanding of ourselves, our communities, and the world around us,” says Wendy Shearer (Visual Arts Teacher and Head of Department, Senior School). “Through creative practice, students explore ideas, communicate experiences, and develop personal ways of seeing and interpreting the world. Art becomes both a form of expression and a means of connecting across time, place, and culture.
